What is Kandji?

Kandji is a powerful mobile device management (MDM) solution tailored specifically for Apple devices, including macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and tvOS. Kandji simplifies the deployment, management, and security of Apple devices across an organization. It offers robust features such as remote device management, security enforcement, and compliance tracking while maintaining the intuitive user experience that Apple devices are known for.

Kandji is ideal for organizations looking for enterprise-grade security and configuration management that aligns with corporate policies. Its advanced capabilities—such as locking, erasing, and removing devices from its database, as well as managing FileVault and Activation Keys—make it a preferred choice for businesses managing Apple fleets.

Why Choose Teqtivity + Kandji?

  • Centralized Device Management: Integrating Kandji with Teqtivity allows you to manage all Apple devices from a single platform, streamlining the entire lifecycle from enrollment to decommissioning. This reduces the need to switch between systems, enabling IT teams to track and manage devices more efficiently.
  • Comprehensive Asset Data: Kandji provides key device details, including make, model, storage, and compliance status, which Teqtivity consolidates into a single view. Asset insights include:
      • Hardware Specs: Make, model, and serial number.
      • User Activity: Login history and assigned users.
      • Security Status: Encryption, app installations, and compliance policies.
  • Enhanced Security Features: Kandji’s advanced security tools integrate seamlessly with Teqtivity, enabling IT teams to lock and unlock devices, erase devices and retrieve FileVault and Activation Keys.
  • Cost Saving: Teqtivity allows you to remove unused or underutilized devices from Kandji, significantly reducing MDM costs. By excluding devices that are no longer in use, you ensure that you’re only paying for active assets, optimizing your MDM expenditure and improving budget management.
  • Improved IT Efficiency: Automating routine tasks such as asset creation, user assignment, and compliance checks saves time and reduces manual errors. This allows IT teams to focus on more critical tasks rather than administrative updates, improving overall efficiency and productivity.

How Teqtivity + Kandji Works

Device Enrollment in Kandji
When a device is enrolled in Kandji, it gathers essential information, including hardware specifications, compliance status, and assigned users. This data is shared with Teqtivity during scheduled syncs, ensuring seamless tracking from day one.

Automatic Asset Creation in Teqtivity
Teqtivity automatically creates asset records for new devices added to Kandji, eliminating manual data entry and ensuring inventory accuracy. These records include essential details such as serial numbers, make, and model.

User Assignment & Updates
Kandji tracks the last logged-in user for each device, and Teqtivity syncs this data to automatically assign devices to the correct users. This ensures accurate user-device mapping and reduces manual updates. For example, a device marked as “stored” in Teqtivity will automatically update to “assigned” when user activity is detected, ensuring seamless and accurate tracking.

Remote Security Actions
Through the integration, IT teams can perform remote security actions such as:

  • Lock or Unlock Devices: Maintain device security.
  • Erase Devices: Protect sensitive data during theft, loss, or decommissioning.
  • Retrieve FileVault and Activation Keys: Enable efficient resets and troubleshooting for Apple devices.

Compliance and Security Sync: Kandji enforces encryption, app restrictions, and software update policies. Teqtivity syncs this compliance data, providing IT with real-time insights into the security  and compliance status of each device.

Flagging Discrepancies: The integration identifies mismatches, such as unassigned devices, compliance issues, or missing Kandji management. These are flagged in Teqtivity’s discrepancy reports for IT to review and resolve.

  • Devices Not Created:If Kandji fails to link a device to an employee email, Teqtivity flags it. It’s unclear whether the device is assigned or in storage, requiring IT review.
  • User Discrepancy: When Kandji assigns a device to one user but Teqtivity shows another user logged in, IT must investigate. Teqtivity can automate reassignment if configured.
  • Checking In – On Hand: If Teqtivity shows a device in storage but Kandji reports a recent login, IT needs to verify whether the device was moved or if the status wasn’t updated. Automation can assign it to the correct user.
  • Not Checking In – Managed and Deployed: Devices assigned but unused for over 10 days need IT investigation to determine if the device was returned or if the employee is using a personal device.
  • Not Checking In – Not Managed and Deployed: When assets are in Teqtivity but not in Kandji, IT must ensure proper syncing for compliance and accurate tracking.

Customizable Workflows: Organizations can configure workflows to handle discrepancies automatically (e.g., reassigning devices to active users) or require manual review based on internal policies.
