What is Microsoft Intune?

Microsoft Intune is a cloud-based solution for Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM). It supports Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, offering a flexible and comprehensive platform for securing and managing employee devices across diverse environments. As a key part of Microsoft’s Endpoint Manager ecosystem, Intune helps organizations enforce security policies, manage device configurations, and maintain control over applications, making it essential for managing devices in hybrid workplaces.

Why Choose Teqtivity + Microsoft Intune?

  • Simplified Device Management: With Teqtivity pulling data from Microsoft Intune, IT teams can manage devices across Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android in one place. There’s no need to jump between systems, making oversight straightforward and efficient.
  • Better Security & Compliance: Microsoft Intune enforces key security measures, such as encryption, secure access policies, and regular updates. Teqtivity syncs this data, giving IT teams a clear view of each device’s compliance with company policies.
  • Detailed Asset Data Tracking: Intune provides detailed information about each device and Teqtivity organizes this data, making it easy for IT teams to see how devices are being used and whether they’re secure.
    • Hardware details (e.g., make, model, processor, and memory).
    • User data (e.g., last login and assigned user email).
    • Security compliance status (e.g., encryption enabled and updates installed).
  • Streamlined Device Lifecycle Management: From procurement to decommissioning, devices can be tracked seamlessly. Intune handles device configuration and security, while Teqtivity keeps track of how devices are allocated, ensuring they’re used effectively and retired responsibly.
  • Time-Saving Automations: By automating routine tasks like adding new devices, assigning them to users, and updating their status, the integration reduces manual work for IT teams, allowing them to focus on other priorities.

How Teqtivity + Microsoft Intune Works

Device Enrollment & Asset Tracking
When a device is enrolled in Microsoft Intune, it collects key information such as hardware specs, compliance status, and the assigned user. This data is synced with Teqtivity, where an asset record is automatically created for new devices, capturing all relevant details. Teqtivity also syncs user login data from Intune to ensure accurate device ownership and up-to-date records, eliminating manual entry and ensuring seamless tracking.

Synchronizing Compliance & Security Data
Teqtivity syncs security and compliance data from Intune, including encryption status, app restrictions, and policies, ensuring up-to-date security status for each device.

Monitoring Status & Flagging Discrepancies
Teqtivity compares its records with Intune’s data to identify discrepancies. These issues are flagged in discrepancy reports for IT to review and resolve. Organizations can customize workflows to automate or manually manage flagged discrepancies.

  • Devices Not Created: When Microsoft Intune doesn’t associate a device with an employee’s email, it becomes unclear if the device is in storage or assigned to someone.
  • User Discrepancy: A device shows as assigned to one user in Microsoft Intune but logged in by another user in Teqtivity. IT must verify if the reassignment was done incorrectly, with automation available to address it based on preferences.
  • Checking In – On Hand: A device marked as in storage in Teqtivity is logged into according to Microsoft Intune. IT needs to confirm whether the device was moved or if the storage status was not updated. Automation can assign it to the logged-in user.
  • Not Checking In – Managed and Deployed: An assigned device hasn’t been used for over 10 days, and no login activity is recorded in Microsoft Intune. IT must determine if the employee is absent, using another device, or if the laptop wasn’t returned.
  • Not Checking In – Not Managed and Deployed: Devices listed in Teqtivity but not in Microsoft Intune require IT to confirm proper installation and syncing of Intune to ensure compliance and effective tracking.

Real-Time Data Syncing & Reporting
Teqtivity and Intune sync regularly, ensuring all device records are up-to-date. Significant events such as reassigned devices, compliance issues, or required updates are reflected promptly.
